United States
The United States is a popular destination for pets travelling from Thailand. However, dogs and cats have different import requirements, and preparation depends on the pet species, vaccination history, and the destination state. Most pets entering the U.S. mainland do not undergo quarantine when all federal and state requirements are met. However, Hawaii has a separate rabies prevention program with additional requirements and a much longer preparation timeline.
ISO-compliant microchip must be implanted before the rabies vaccination used for travel documentation.
Current rabies vaccination valid and dated, with a primary series on record.
Rabies antibody titer test performed at a CDC-approved laboratory after rabies vaccination.
Arrival through a CDC-approved airport with an Animal Care Facility (ACF) reservation required for foreign-vaccinated dogs travelling from high-risk rabies countries.
